Human Development

Measure of America’s inaugural report presented a version of the Human Development Index pioneered at the United Nations for an American context. The American Human Development Index measures the same three basic dimensions as the standard HD Index: A Long and Healthy Life, Access to Knowledge, and A Decent Standard of Living. Since the initial release of The Measure of America in 2008, MOA has produced many human development reports, including subsequent national reports and tools and our Portrait series, which explores well-being and opportunity in US states, counties, and metro areas.
